A time for new ideas as the Club embarks on its most unusual and ambitious funding raising scheme so far - a monster Flea Market at Birkenhead

The club's first Paul Harris Fellowships awarded to Past Presidents Claude Bennie and Con Mottee

Support for Foundation 41 and the Child Cots Death research, canoes purchased for Abbotsford Sea Scouts and a tent provided for Five Dock Scouts
International   
Continued support for ten Malaysian students in Kuala Limpur throough the Rotary Education Support for Overseas Program

1985/86
The club membership has now reached forty members. "King" the guide dog companion for our blind fellow rotarian Len Duggan welcomed in the club.

Fundraising efforts provided funds for the local tennis courts and a sliding door for wheelchair access to the local Disabled Peoples International office.
International   
Donation of $2,000 provided to a hospital in Fiji with support continuing for students in Papua New Guinea and Malaysia

1986/87
A year of fellowship and visit to sister clubs including to Rotary Club of Prudee, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Projects
Local             
Two barbecues purchased for Rodd Point.
Significant donations supported the purchase of computers for local schools and also Evondale Special School for children living with an intellectual disability.
International   
Science equipment sent to Papua New Guinea high school including microscopes, laboratory chemicals and text books.
Financial commitment to Rotary international's 'PolioPlus' was fulfilled.

The Club celebrates its 15th anniversary

Salvation Army Red Shield appeal is supported 
Croker Tennis Courts - support provided by Simpson family - grosses $4500
Catering BBQs conducted for Ronald McDonald House, Girl Guides Association and Domremy College

1988/89
A busy time including several new fundraising activities and working bees.

Club members and families raised over $6000 for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal and a steel fabricated double garage installed at the local citadel 
Donations were giving to the Camperdown Children's Hospital and Lucas Primary School along with funds provided to Abbotsford Primary for computer updates
Additional fundraising activities include Blacktown and Chatswood car swaps.

The Club is awarded a Rotary International Citation for Outstanding Service through Fellowship and Service
Projects
Local 
Financial support given to the Royal Blind Society, Smith Family, Salvation Army.
Walkers were donated to Lucas School and donations 
International 
The Bangladesh 'freshwater project' managed through Rotary's  International Projects Advisory Committee received $3000 helping to provide pure water to 75,000 people.

Five Dock Scout Hall repainted with product sourced and donated by "Wattyl" paints
A shade house purchased for Concord Repatriation Hospital and gates installed at local Salvation Army citadel
Donations provided to Camp Quality, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and Camperdown Children's Hospital
Club continued to be involved in the Blacktown and Chatswood car swaps.

 An active and successful year despite ongoing recession across the country

Donation sent to Camperdown Children's Hospital Oncology department for Bone Marrow Research
Flagpoles were provided to the local Anglican Church and schools
Manpower provided for the Red Shield appeal and the Balmain Hospital fete
International
Northern Thailand infants school received support for the creation of a 'fish farm' to provide source of protein for the children

Twenty years old and still growing in a year also marked by the open of the Sydney Harbour Tunnel
Projects
 
Local 
Clubs across Sydney worked together to help manage the "Tunnel Walk" event raised $420,000 for the construction of new preschool in Penrith for children living with a disability.
Funds also given to Fred Hollow Foundation, Flying Doctor Service and Lucas School
 
International
Supported a Community in School (CIS) project based in Moscow to establish a half-way house for orphans where young people can learn a trade
